October Vestry Minutes
Present: The Rev. Astrid Storm, Vicar; Troy Graves-Abe, Warden; Lithgow Osborne; Larry Johnson; Paul Conrad; Nancy Mahoney; Dale Cunningham
Absent: Howie and Edie Palm, Vicki Kolb
I. Meeting opened with prayer by Astrid.
II. Approval of September minutes were tabled.
Church growth - Second Sunday service discussed. Rite I monthly service brought up by Paul on a trial basis. Troy mentioned financial aspect of two services (Astrid’s time). During Advent and Epiphany an 8:30 spoken service will be considered, probably Rite II.
III. New Business:
Roof contract: Canopy Roofing - $70,000
Arthur Vincent - $94,000
Micheal Conners from Beacon - $82,000
Diocese recommends Canopy. They can start in 2 weeks. Conditional approval pending. Checking references.
Building and Grounds:
Boiler bids - $7500 - $16,000 with AC included; Diocesan loans will not cover AC
$12,000 balance from roof to be used for heating/AC work
Budget proposal - handout
Vicar’s salary discussed
2010 budget proposal approved by all with adjustment at end of stewardship campaign. DIT paperwork in place.
Stewardship Campaign Sundays 10/18 & 10/25
Two people will speak at announcements about why they give to St. Nick’s.
Fall Fundraisers - Larry
Chili fest/Craft fair - 11/21/09
100 bowls @ 2 levels: $15 & $20
Chili, bread, hot dogs, beverages
Crafts people - $25/booth
Co-chairman - Dale Cunningham
Katherine Whiteside will make cornbread
Vicar’s report
Diocesan convention - 11/21/09. Lithgow and Troy will attend
Vestry classes and elections will take place in December.
